Highlights of Bohemia

13 daysAustria, Germany, Hungary, Poland

Across 13 days, you will travel through Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic, following grand boulevards, standing beneath grand cathedral towers, and wandering through palace rooms bright with gold. In Bohemia and beyond, legends are carved into gateways, painted across town clocks. You hear how myths, rulers, wars and old trade routes have left their mark on town squares, river cities and streets built long before modern borders. You might rest your hand on cool church stone, notice carved crests above doorways and listen as your Travel Director traces the history etched into their worn lines. Or perhaps you will relax at a warm cafe and savor the soft sponges and sweet pastries that give way beneath your fork.

Day 1Berlin Arrival: Germany’s Capital AwaitsBerlin

Your tour begins in Berlin, where cafe chatter, tram bells and the smoky-sweet scent of currywurst from a street-food stall fill the air. You have time to head out on your own to explore Germany's capital, perhaps pausing for a cold stein of local beer or a soft salty pretzel fresh from the baker's oven. Later, you'll meet your Travel Director and fellow travelers, the people who will share the route with you through Poland, Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Day 2Explore Berlin’s Historic Grand BoulevardBerlin

You'll start the day on Unter den Linden, Berlin’s grand boulevard with your Local Specialist. The afternoon is yours to explore independently or you may join an Optional Experience. You can choose to examine World War II and Cold War sites or follow the path of the Berlin Wall through East Berlin with neighborhood food stops along the way. Or you can leave the city for a countryside dinner, where you'll take your seat among warm dishes to enjoy some German specialties.
