Easy Pace Spain

10 daysSpain

Across 10 leisurely days in Spain, you’ll follow your Local Specialist through the narrow streets of Barcelona’s Old Town and along Passeig de Gràcia to the Sagrada Família, where stained glass scatters color across soaring stone and mosaic-tipped spires rise above the city. In San Sebastián, the Bay of Biscay stretches beyond the city as you spend the evening tasting bite-sized dishes with crisp local Txakoli poured alongside. In Madrid, you’ll see the Royal Palace with your Local Specialist before joining an art historian in the Prado, where Velázquez, Goya and centuries of Spanish art hold your attention in rich color and deep shadows.

Day 2Barcelona, the City of GaudíBarcelona

The lively port of Barcelona boasts an impressive Old Town, although it’s the daring architecture of the Catalan Art Nouveau that really sets it apart. Sightseeing with your Local Specialist begins with a drive down the Passeig de Gràcia to Gaudí's Sagrada Família*. Venture inside the leviathan of the Eixample where a tree canopy carved from stone, holds up the roof as sun pours through stained glass. Then you are free to explore this amazing city at your own pace. *As construction of the Sagrada Família nears completion, access may occasionally be restricted due to special masses, pilgrim visits or official ceremonies. If tickets are unavailable during your tour, you will visit the Hospital de Sant Pau, a stunning example of Catalan Art Nouveau by Domènech i Montaner. You will then join your Local Specialist to admire the extraordinary exterior of Gaudí’s iconic basilica.
