Discover one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World on a guided tour of Victoria Falls, locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders.” This awe-inspiring waterfall stretches nearly 1.7 kilometers wide and plunges over 100 meters into the Zambezi Gorge, creating a breathtaking spectacle of mist, rainbows, and roaring water. Your tour takes you along well-maintained rainforest pathways and designated viewpoints, each offering a unique perspective of the Falls. Learn about the geology, flora, and cultural significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site as you experience its raw power up close. Whether it’s the thundering spray, the lush rainforest atmosphere, or the panoramic views across to Zambia, a visit to Victoria Falls is a truly unforgettable highlight of any Southern African journey.
Stop 4
Experience Victoria Falls from the Zambian side, where a network of trails and bridges brings you right to the heart of the spray. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders”—this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers dramatic, close-up encounters with the world’s largest curtain of falling water. Walk across the famous Knife-Edge Bridge, where the thundering water and swirling mist create a powerful, immersive experience. Depending on the season, you’ll see everything from the full flood of the Zambezi River to exposed rock formations and smaller cascades. Along the way, your guide shares insights into the geology, history, and cultural significance of the Falls. With fewer viewpoints but more direct encounters, the Zambian side offers an intimate, unforgettable perspective of this natural wonder.
Stop 5
As part of your journey between Zimbabwe and Zambia, you will pass over the historic Victoria Falls Bridge, a remarkable steel arch structure built in 1905. Spanning 198 meters across the Batoka Gorge, the bridge offers sweeping views of the Zambezi River and the mist rising from the nearby Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (“The Smoke That Thunders”). The bridge not only connects two countries but also two cultures, and crossing it involves standard border formalities at the respective immigration posts. While we will not be stopping on the bridge itself, the drive across offers a unique perspective of this engineering feat and its dramatic setting. Guests should ensure they carry the correct travel documents for border clearance, as procedures vary depending on nationality and visa requirements.
