Stop 1
Explore the unique landscape of Mammoth Hot Springs, where geothermal activity and wildlife come together in one of Yellowstone’s most fascinating regions. Guests will walk along the iconic travertine terraces, shaped by mineral-rich hot water that creates constantly changing formations and vibrant colors. This area is also one of the best places in the park to view wildlife. Travelers will have excellent opportunities to observe elk, often seen roaming right through the historic Mammoth area, along with bison, pronghorn, and a variety of bird species. With some luck, we may also spot predators such as wolves or coyotes in the surrounding Northern Range. Throughout the experience, your guide will share insights into the geology of the hot springs, the behavior of the wildlife, and the rich history of Fort Yellowstone. With a relaxed pace and time to explore, guests can take in both the natural beauty and the incredible wildlife that make this area so special.

Lamar Valley is also world-renowned for its wolf populations, and with a bit of luck and expert guidance, you may witness these incredible animals in the wild. Bears, coyotes, foxes, and eagles are also frequently seen in this area. Your guide will help bring the landscape to life by sharing insights into animal behavior, migration patterns, and the ongoing conservation efforts that make this ecosystem so unique. With plenty of time to stop, observe, and take in the scenery, this portion of the tour offers an unforgettable and immersive wildlife experience.

Guests will have the chance to observe bison, often seen in impressive numbers, along with elk, waterfowl, and other bird species that thrive in this rich habitat. Hayden Valley is also known for predator activity, and with some luck, we may spot grizzly bears, wolves, or coyotes in the distance.
