5.0 / 5 · 3 traveler reviews
Dresden by itself is a rare jewel with an engrossing history and a phoenix-like story. A walking tour is essential to do it justice. But a walking tour is just the bare minimum, for to visit Dresden without experiencing its cultural aspects is to miss a remarkable opportunity. Allow us to guide you through one of its world class museums: The New Green Vault. First opened to the public in 1729, Augustus the Strong’s collection of treasury art is one of the oldest museums in Europe. It is also one of the most extensive and diverse collections of its kind to have survived Europe’s turbulent history almost intact. Immerse yourself in an astonishing array of artefacts created by genius goldsmiths, gemcutters and ivory turners to experience in depth Dresden’s glorious past and role as a European powerhouse. The guide will show you all the highlights and bring their finer and subtle details to light. This is an absolute 'must do' tour!
