Your experience
Stop 1
This half-day experience at Kuang Si Heritage Rice Farm invites you to work alongside local farmers, try traditional tools, and follow the journey of rice from seed selection to the sticky rice served at the table. Established in 2025, the farm brings Lao agricultural heritage to life across two hectares of terraced paddies, just five kilometers from Kuang Si Waterfalls. Water from the Kuang Si watershed nourishes the fields, while a carefully relocated traditional Lao stilt house provides a welcoming setting for sharing food and stories. Plots planted at different times allow visitors to explore different stages of the rice-growing cycle throughout the year. Get your hands muddy planting rice, learn how water buffalo help prepare the fields, and try harvesting, pounding, and winnowing by hand. Then sit down to a farm-to-table Lao lunch and freshly pressed sugarcane juice—a taste of the food, knowledge, and hospitality that connect rice farming with community life.
Stop 2
Farm-to-Table Lunch in a Traditional Lao House Relax over a Lao lunch served in the farm’s traditional stilt house. Enjoy sticky rice you have helped prepare alongside local dishes, and hear your hosts’ stories of water sharing, seasonal work, and life around the rice fields. The meal offers a warm introduction to Lao hospitality while supporting the local people who share their skills and traditions.
