Your experience
Stop 1
One of America’s most famous historic symbols, Plymouth Rock is traditionally associated with the Pilgrims’ arrival in 1620. See the rock beneath its grand waterfront portico and discover how this modest piece of stone became a powerful symbol of Plymouth’s founding story despite centuries of legend surrounding it.
Stop 2
Standing above Plymouth Harbor, this monument honors Massasoit, the Wampanoag sachem whose relationship with the Plymouth colonists played a crucial role in the settlement’s early years. Created by sculptor Cyrus Dallin and installed for Plymouth’s 1921 tercentenary, the statue offers a chance to consider the complex relationship between the Wampanoag people and the newcomers.
Stop 3
Follow Town Brook through this peaceful green space created in the 1920s on land connected to Plymouth’s earliest settlement. The gardens include the original plot granted to Elder William Brewster and highlight the fresh water source that helped make this area an attractive place for the English colonists to establish their community.
Stop 4
Set within Brewster Gardens, this bronze statue honors the English women who endured the hardships of Plymouth Colony’s earliest years. Sculpted by Henry Hudson Kitson and dedicated in 1924, the monument celebrates their courage and perseverance while offering a quiet stop along historic Town Brook.
Stop 5
Once the site of Plymouth Colony’s first fort and meetinghouse, this historic hill later became the resting place of generations of Plymouth residents. Walk among centuries-old gravestones, find memorials associated with Mayflower passengers such as Governor William Bradford and William Brewster, and enjoy sweeping views toward Plymouth Harbor.
Stop 6
Step aboard a full-scale reproduction of the ship that carried the Pilgrims across the Atlantic in 1620. Built in England and sailed to Plymouth in 1957, Mayflower II brings the difficult transatlantic voyage to life; admire the vessel from the waterfront or buy a ticket to explore its decks and exhibits.
Stop 7
Dating to around 1640, the Richard Sparrow House is considered one of Plymouth’s oldest surviving homes and a remarkable example of early colonial architecture. See how some of the town’s earliest English settlers lived, admire its traditional saltbox-style features, or visit the historic property and its collection of locally made art and crafts.
Stop 8
Discover how Plymouth’s early colonists transformed flowing water into power at this working reproduction of their 1636 grain mill. Set beside Town Brook, the mill still uses historic millstones to grind corn and other grains; buy a ticket to explore the machinery, learn how water-powered milling worked, and see the process in action.
