Samsara Hotel is
for the budget minded Caribbean traveler. It is a large, sprawling hotel
for the West End of Negril. The rooms are clean and neat, and a good
value for the buck. The hotel is central to this area, within walking
distance to numerous shops and restaurants. There is space for group
meetings on site.
The fifty rooms are spread over a wide
area of the cliffs. There are seaside rooms, gardenside rooms and
seaside cabins that are octagonal shaped buildings perched on stilts.
The outstanding feature of Samsara is the expanse of room for sunbathing
and enjoying the view from the cliffs. The pool and Jacuzzi are close to
the open air bar. There is volleyball, ping-pong, basketball, and a pool
table to pass the time.

The staff is friendly and attentive here.
They will help you arrange trips to see the local waterfalls or take a
sunset horseback ride on the vistas overlooking the sea. The snorkeling
is very good along the cliffs, and scuba diving can be arranged. As
well, there is a shuttle twice daily to the sister hotel, Legends, which
is located on the beach in Negril. From there you have access to all the
activities and restaurants on the beach.
The rooms are modest but comfortable.
Most are air-conditioned and all but the garden side rooms have nice
views of the sea. The floors are tiled and all have balconies or private
patios. There are phones available for collect and credit card
international calls and safes are located in the office. The restaurant
is good with a varied menu. Prices range from $12.00-$24.00US and
buffets and local dishes with entertainment are featured some evenings
of the week.
